Live video chat: Blogging Bootcamp, Tuesday March 2

,

Yep, that’s right. I’m going to tell you how to write a blog that will help you meet your goals. Tuesday night at 8 p.m. eastern. The chat will be upbeat and inspirational. At the beginning. And then I will rant about my pet peeves. For example:

  • Why you should not try to make money from your blog
  • Why you should not start a second blog
  • Why you should take care to link to other blogs, a lot

But mostly, I’ll answer your questions, which you can ask in real-time.

I’m doing this video stuff with Ryan Paugh. (I am linking to his personal blog to show you that I take my own advice.) Ryan keeps coming to these events a little bit drunk. But that doesn’t stop us from getting rave reviews. Here’s one he forwarded to me from his mom: “Great job, Ry.”

So sign up here. And you will have a great blog. Or you will at least know why you don’t.

I will try to get on, but have screaming kids at that hour! I want to get the recording so I can listen after they go to bed. I want to learn as much as possible about blogging. Thanks.

Wow. You really insulted your audience last night. I took time away from my family to watch this to LEARN something and just got an hour of weirdness. It was just so disappointing.

Blogging has helped my websites (there’s a few: skip hire being the first) invaluably just by keeping the website constantly updated and fresh. As long as the content is relevant and not stuffed with keywords and rubbish then it can be an asset and also good for feeding to a Twitter account.
I’m based in the UK so not too sure if I can get the times right for your video chat, but good luck with it anyway.

Too bad I am a day too late for this. I have been in the blogging world for quite sometime, and have definitely seen a rise in people who are trying to make money through blogging. I remembered back then when people would just write about their day, or their travels, or what they read on the news…honest contents…but nowadays, everything people write has a link back or an ad, some don’t even really care about what they blog anymore as long as they can squeeze a few dollars out of it. And then there are those spams from people who tell you that they can help you make money through blogging or start a blogging business. Blogs used to be known as “Online Journals”….looks more like Money Making ads to me now…People should really put good Contents as a goal ahead of their money making interests this will definitely win them readers.

One blog, more blogs, this is an age old question. Well as long as platforms like WordPress were around. Yeah and Blogspot too I suppose. I like to keep my blogs like I keep my filing cabinet. Each topic on it’s own blog. So many would be my choice over just one.

Sorry I missed this. However everywhere one looks on the internet these days is someone telling you how to make money from blogging. Or more likely trying to sell you a product purporting to show you how to make money from your blog. Don’t you make money from yours?

Is the event recording available – I don’t want to miss it.

I am having the hardest time trying to understand the differences between blogging with the free Google blog versus using WordPress. I wonder if there is an advantage to using one over the other? Maria Mekus

I am interested in these blog web tips. I don’t get all that much about blogs yet and think you will be able to provide lots of great tips. I think it would be nice for a transcript – easy to fit in my schedule. Thanks.
