Video blog: Solve small problems before they become big

By Bruce Tulgan - Instead of avoiding small problems and hoping they’ll go away, solve them as they come up. You’ll avoid disaster and you and your employees will get good at dealing with conflict.

Reinforces an old adage “A stitch in time saves nine.”

One of the other reasons leaders and managers let go of small problems is their conflict avoidance nature. I worked with a CEO once who was your best friend - or so I thought. He was all jovial, shoulder patting, joking and laughing - in short, he wanted to do all the “fun stuff”.

But he did a Houdini whenever any unpleasant issue needed to be dealt with. It is no wonder, his small business was always in the survival mode.
