Dear Penelope,

What a great thought. Pause. EVerywhere around us pauses help give a new meaning and course correct.

In Indian Classical music, pauses are used so creatively to create interest about what is going to come next.

Pausing time is what photography essentially creates.

World economy seeing a pause for a while will bring sanity to this maddening growth and maddening consumption.

A pause really creates a great learning opportunity, a time to reflect on deeper issues, a time to see the world around us much more deeply, a time to reflect. WOW. What a thought.

You have inspired me to pen my own thoughts on this on my own blog.

BTW, I totally agree with pause in career and less job hopping. I have written about this in my last two posts which are about learning stages in a career and career growth.

I will keep tracing this blog site and add it to my favourites.

Thanks Penelope - Execellent post

I'm a big fan of the 'career pause' - my best ideas and insights have come whilst lounging around between projects.

But pausing whilst speaking is something I definitely need to work on.

So thanks for the post and the timely reminder!

At first I was going to complain that since everything, from word choice to pace of delivery, are tools in a professional speaker's workbox - as it is today - it is little wonder that people cannot decipher what is authentic and sincere, versus what is an act to promote a deceptive, weak or inaccurate argument.
But now I realize that knowledge is power, and knowing the tricks of the public speaking trade is infinitely preferable to being fooled by the peripheral cues given by speakers over their sometimes weak messages.
Perhaps you could write another blog, or series of them, to highlight more ideas/tools that work. This one was very interesting.
