Starting a side business allows you to have something to fall back on if you ever do find yourself unemployed. The tax breaks don&#039;t hurt, either. Many people run Amazon or eBay stores. Not a bad place to start.

Regarding the networking suggestion, it remains the #1 tool in finding employment. The key is to work your network before you need it.
